Hygrade Pan Set

Another random card from my stash.

Name: Hygrade Pan Set
Date: 6.6.2009

Cost: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
A Pan set picked up for about 6$ off of Ebay. Doubt you’d be able to find another one of these ever.

One Star availability…haha. Pan sets aren’t usually easy to come by because…they’re not typical decks of playing cards. You get J,Q,K,A and like 2- through 6 to make 40 card packs. 8 Sets per box means, this set has… uhh. 640 cards?

Kinda hard to classify. When I picked it up, like all old casino cards, even if they’re new, if they’re opened they clump. Horribly. So I recently picked up fanning powder. And revived them… and now…they’re good for eye candy, but little else. A little of the soft side. Who knows what ‘finish’ they have. The dimples give an air cushion effect, but its like…missing the springyness of a bicycle card, but it still has some snap on the edges. None of this really matters though , .. Unless you come across another set.

Quite easy. Has more ‘plastic’ flow than a bicycle deck, which leans towards the ‘paper’ side.

Available in Red and Blue. I personally like it because it mimics the aristocrat deck that I don’t have yet. : X yay for fake aristocrats. Fake? Well, its good enough for me. Plus I have a whole stash worth, so I can use them for practice.

Not enough snap left to make it worthwhile. Still works, but barely.

-Really Random. Probably what is labeled a ‘one-shot’ back design. Who knows that that little insignia thing in the middle is. I don’t. But having a ‘practice’ card is always worthwhile. What else…The red on the faces isn’t like that bright bicycle red, its more typical to the dark ‘casino’ red. Pan set means 40 cards, so no 8, 9, or 10 spots for you : ( Well. All in all. I’d use these. At least more than some of the other decks I have.

Gemaco Alpha

another day, another type of card.

Name: Gemaco Playing Cards ( Carson Nugget)

I forget…this came in some random huge lot of crap I got off of Ebay.

The deck seemed opened/brand new when I got it. The box says armor finish. I love how they come up with these names. If I had my own line, I’d call it … uhh….who knows…? Naming is difficult. Fanning capabilities = above average. Snappiness,,, well done. They’re like PGC Professional Gambling Cards in terms of what I have in my stash. Except its Gemaco…perhaps an underdog of sorts when it comes to providing decks of cards for casinos, right after Bee and others…uhhh yea…seems like these would hurt if you use them for throwing.

In the upper half as far as casino cards go. Not bad.

The Gemaco is like a silly offshoot of bee. I should look into which came first sometime. I’d bet on bee…anyways… Instead of red diamonds, you have red circles. If you stare at them long enough, they go blurry. Casino logo doubles on the back, but that’s it….Standard casino fare?

Gemaco : Please note that the court cards have a personality now.

The cards are quite crisp. So you can actually hear them ‘shoot’ ,,, at least,,more audibly than say,,local retail store bikes. Which bend. Instead of snap. And shoot. Good stuff.

-Gemaco casino cards. They’re made in the U.S.A. These specific ones were made in Missouri for Carson City Nugget. Uhhhh. Right…The face cards are..amusing. The box has a cut out window. Cut out,,which means you  should leave a joker on the box to protect the rest of the deck. I left the nine of hearts. And now its all spotty. Bleh. At least casino card boxes today have a film over them or no opening at all. Minus points there Gemaco. But its casino quality and armor finish. Love that name…hmm just noticed that the front of the gemaco box has that circle motif thing. Turns out that’s whats on the back of the cards. Gemaco cards seem to be the type you’d love to burn through for practice sessions.
