Atelier Playing Cards by Robert Padbury (2014)
Kickstarter Date: April 2014

So this deck is minimalist. So very. All you get is the design on the box and corner pips. No royals. No aces. The spades look like the hearts. Apparently it’s harmonious.

Whats the price point of this deck? The original price of this deck was 15-19$ thorough Kickstarter. Well I picked 2 off of ebay with dinged corners for 10$ each. You know a deck is priced too high on kickstarter if a year later you can pick up dinged decks for half the price. Doesn’t effect the cards at all. I see new sealed decks going for 40$ on ebay. That’s too high for something you won’t open.

Apparently the design process actually had red black and white colors. I have no idea why these were all scrapped in favor of something so empty. If any of these other ones came back, I would probably pledge on those.

It says it takes inspiration from Casino Royale. I found one other deck that has a similar back design. Its a vintage Chevron gasoline deck which who knows how old these are.

Its typical Kentucky Bicycle stock, but perhaps better or worse due to the lack of ink. But if you really want to experience an inkless deck, you’re better off getting full blank gaff decks.

What I do like is since I’m starting to practice the 360 riffle fan, it actually is decent with this deck face up since you’re only getting the index pips anyways. Anyways, have some more pictures.
